Product Description
Epic Mushrooms is a mycology lab and small-scale mushroom farm based out of Seattle, WA.
We produce highly desirable mushroom strains for use in mycology research, and mushroom farming at scale. We also produce a small amount of mycological equipment all of which is vetted for quality by it's everyday use in our own laboratory.
Our liquid cultures are made in small batches, by our team of mycologists - we utilize best in class sterilization and sanitization equipment in order to ensure that over 99.9% of our cultures are contamination free! Additionally, we store our cultures in cold storage prior to shipping - so the mycelium is healthy and lively when it gets to you (our favorite new customer).
Our goal is to help teach the world how to farm mushrooms from the enthusiastic hobbyist, to the enterprising commercial farm. Mushrooms are the food and medicine of the past, and we believe unlocking their secrets will show us all a brighter future.
Blue Oyster / Pleurotus Ostreatus
Our blue oyster liquid cultures are a favorite of hobbyists as they are fantastic for new growers due to their ability to fight off competing organisms and colonize rapidly.
Our standard strain is a rapidly colonizing, contamination resistant strain that fruits quickly with large deep blue fruits.
We highly suggest this strain to new mushroom growers, as we have grown it on straw, softwood sawdust, hardwood sawdust, coconut husks and even junk mail!
This mushroom is hungry, and will eat almost anything you give it!
King Oyster / Pleurotus Eryngii
Our king oyster liquid culture has been selectively bred over several generations for fruiting size. This is to say, it produces HUGE mushrooms.
We have had single mushrooms from this strain weigh in at nearly ONE POUND. It's the perfect mushroom to impress your friends, as they likely will have never seen such large mushrooms in the wild.
Lion's Mane / Hericium Erinaceus
Our lion's mane liquid culture produces beautiful round and shapely fruits. These mushrooms have a taste that pairs nicely with seafood, but more importantly have a number of medicinal benefits.
These mushrooms are known to contain polysaccharides, hericenones and erinacines. These compounds have been found by researchers in Japan to potentially reduce the likelihood of developing Alzheimer's or dementia and are now a popular supplement in addition to being a food.
Shiitake / Lentinula Edodes
Our shiitake mushroom liquid culture grows quickly and produces healthy round fruits. These are perfect addition to miso soup, stir-fry or buddhas delight.
They are also medicinal, shown to reduce blood pressure and lipids (cholesterol) in rats and theorized to have the same or similar effects in humans.
